Mr. Aronson developed policies and programs for Jewish agency involvement on issues of civil rights. civil liberties. immigration reform. churchstate separation. Soviet Jewish immigration. and support for Israel. He was clearly a man ahead of his time. In 1954. he organized the Consultative Conference on Desegregation. and Interrellgious Coalition with the heads of the National Council of Churches. the Synagogue Council of America. and a representative of the national Catholic Welfare Conference as cochairman and himself as secretary.
