Speaker Silver received a welldeserved award at the silver anniversary of one of New York Citys outstanding community groups. the United Jewish Council of the east side. I am proud to represent the diverse and vibrant neighborhood of the lower east side. and prouder still of the magnificent contributions made to the community by the UJO. The WC currently administers a variety of social services to over 16.000 residents. From senior centers. to housing. to nutrition programs. to Immigrant assistance. the UJCs contributions to the quality of life in our city are without limit. Mr. Speaker. space prohibits me from congratulating the entire leadership of the UJC. but I want to commend Rabbi Yltzchok Singer.
