Under this legislation there is a system much better than we have today for resolving the whole question of asylum from A to Z. We have an expedited or summary exclusion process that will be guaranteed in the sense you get two bites at the apple. If you ask for asylum at the airport. an asylum officer specially trained will screen you. If you think you have been given a raw deal and he says you do not have a credible fear of persecution and decides to return you straight home. you get to go before an immigration judge. That has to be done though within a matter of 24 hours. 7 days at the most. It is a very. very positive provision. because it you do not qualify. you are going to be shipped right back out again. and do not get caught up in our system.
