As I look around this Chamber. I see the great melting pot personified by many of the Members in this House. and I am no exception. Of course my married name is RouICEMA. and my husband. in fact. is the only member of his family who was not born in Holland. They came here and were assimilated. My family name is Scafati. We were ItalianAmerican immigrants. my grandparents on both sides. and their decision was to come to America and be integrated into society as soon as possible. As a result. my grandparents and my parents learned English ASAP. It was important for them.
