Session #104 · 1995–97

Speech #1040236968

Yet this bill continues the downward trend of the 1996 Appropriation Act by again cutting funds for the Administration on Aging. For worker protection. the House bill cuts worker protection programs by 13 percent below the Presidents request and 9 percent below what is needed to simply maintain last years level of operations. That means cuts in our ability to help guarantee workplace health and safety. pension protection. and immigration reform. The bill also cuts funding for the NLRB by 15 percent below last years level and 20 percent below the Presidents request. We do not think that is wise.
