Obviously. as the Senator has touched on. the fact is that we are failing in our educational system to meet the challenges of retraining and providing a trained labor pool. Many businesses cannot get the qualified personnel that they need. As a matter of fact. we hear those who are opposed to some of the proposed immigration reforms because. they say. the reforms would make it impossible to get the kind of talented work pool needed from outside the United.States. This is a fact. So for us to say. well. the reason we do not have a better growth rate than 2.5 or 2.2 percent is because of Chairman Greenspan or that he is opposed somehow to greater economic growth is just fallacious.
