We have been ready to move toward a decision on this measure. I know that the Senator from Wyoming has reservations about it. but let me just mention briefly again what the substance of this amendment is all about. As I noted in my earlier remarks. this amendment provides the Department of Labor authority to do in the permanent workers immigrant program what it can already do on the temporary worker visa program. We effectively have two programs. On the temporary workers. even though it is called temporaries. it is up to 6 years. and there were about 65.000 last year.
