Session #104 · 1995–97

Speech #1040203651

There are othersSenator GRAHAM. Senator CONNiE MAcKI understand that. and I have joined that. But if we are going to have a law on the books which does not have anything to do with oppression. it has to do with the most remarkable lapse that we can ever imagine in our immigration law. the Cuban Adjustment Act I think should be repealed. Even though this Is a different and quite unique amendment than previously. it still is a situation where it is the only country on the face of the Earth where you come. stick around a year under any circumstanceseven if you violated the lawand walk in and get a green card. whereas if anybody else did that. if they had their adjustment lapse. they would be pitched. So that is where we are. It is an Interesting vote again.
