In fact. according to the San Diego UnionTribune article that has been mentioned here. there will be a significant increase. a 41percent increase in legal immigration that the INS now says will enter the United States over the next 2 years. They have undercalculated or miscalculated too low for the next 2 years. and the fact of the matter is. we are going to see about a 41percent increase in the next 2 years. The article provides details about unreleased data from the INS showing that immigration will rise 41 percent this year and next year over 1995 levels. This is the result of an approximate 300.000 administrative backlog of relatives of individuals who have not realized applying for alien status. Therefore. the fact is. under the bill as currently written. we are not going to see a slight decrease.
