We are saying that we want your skills and ingenuity. but leave your brothers and sisters behind. We want your commitment to freedom and democracy. but not your mother. We want you to help rebuild our inner cities and cure our diseases. but we do not want your grandchildren to be at your knee. We want your family values but not your families. Mr. President. this amendment should not be on this bill. We should have an opportunity to debate these issues when legal immigration comes up. and I hope the amendment will not be accepted.
