I will offer this amendment. ask that it be sent to the desk. and that it be immediately considered by the Senate. Before the clerk reads it. let me say that I do not intend to hold up the immigration bill. and I intend to agree to any reasonable short time agreement. Understand that this does not relate to the underlying bill. but also understand that this will be the only opportunity prior to a vote that Senator DOLE has already announced to the Senate and the country that he intends to require of us. It will be the only opportunity prior to that time for us to register on this question.
