Fruit and vegetable growers want to be allowed to pay actual housing. The Goodlatte amendment permits housing allowances. If housing is reasonably available in the area. guest workers will not be forced into homelessness. Mr. Chairman. I urge Members to support this amendment. It addresses the concerns of the agriculture community. but does not allow our borders to open for one segment of the economy. The Goodlatte amendment controls illegal immigration while providing our fruit and vegetable growers with the labor they need to harvest their produce. I urge the adoption of this amendment.
