Mr. Chairman. I thank the gentleman for yielding me this time. Mr. Chairman. today we are here to debate immigration reform. Most people agree that immigration reform needs cutting back on the number of illegal immigrants entering this country. Some would go further to say that it means cutting the number of legal immigrants entering this country. Never mind the problems each of us may have with the bill. at least we can debate these issues on the merits. But this amendment. the Pombo amendment before us. flies in the face of the purported goals. The gentleman from California is offering an amendment that would open a back door to allow 250.000 foreign agricultural workers into this country.
