But there Is silence here. while the debate is filled with sound and fury over the menace to our south. This is not right. It Is blind and unfair. It fans the flames of prejudice. It makes it possible for a bill to deal so callously with our legal immigrants. My State of Rhode Island is enriched by the many people who have brought their cultures and traditions to this great Nation to build a life for themselves and for future generations. I am proud of these hardworking Americans. who each day go to work. pay taxes. and make their contribution toward creating a stronger United States.
