I know how important it is for local law enforcement to establish trust with all of the ethnic and minority groups and communities in their cities. In particular. our large cities. like a Houston that has a multicultural community. it is important that those communities who speak a different language realize that when the police come. they are there to enforce the universal laws and prevent crime against those citizens. and anyone who is doing a crime will be arrested. It is dangerous to put immigration authority in these local law enforcements so that they cannot do their real Job. which is to protect those communities and protect the larger communities and to engender trust in the community so that they can get the job done. I appreciate the direction of the gentleman. however. I think it is the wrong direction.
