Mr. Chairman. I thank the gentleman for yielding time to me. and for his fine work on this bill. Mr. Chairman. we are a nation of immigrants. My grandfather emigrated to this country from Germany in the early part of this century. My wifes parents both emigrated to this country from Ireland after World War II. I daresay there is not a person in this room who cannot go back but a few generations and find a member of their family who came to this country. It is an important principle. We remain a shining beacon of much hope for people around the world. and under the bill we will remain so.
