With asylum we face a very difficult issue. I think most Americans believe that that torch that shines so brightly in Madam Libertys hand should remain lit. there are those that face persecution that we have to. we do not have to. but we ought to allow to come to America. On the other hand. there is no secret that the asylum process was totally abused and that hundreds of thousands of people. literally. in the last decade. have used the asylum process. some on their own. some at the urging of smugglers. some at the urging of lawyers. to abuse it. They did not deserve asylum. But because the system worked in such a rinkydinky. jerrybuilt way. they asked for it.
