Session #104 · 1995–97

Speech #1040190242

And I also owe thanks to the chairman of that full committee. the gentleman from Illinois. Mr. HENRY HYDE. and his ranking member. the gentleman from Michigan. Mr. CONYERS for perseverance under difficult circumstances. Mr. Speaker. any rule that does not make in order every amendment requested is going to be unpopular with some. But given the need to finish the bill on the floor this week. the Rules Committee has come up with a reasonable solution. I ask for a "yes" vote on the motion for the previous question. and a "yes" vote on adoption of this balanced rule on the immigration bill.
