Mr. President. I rise to introduce legislation that would establish a Visa Waiver Pilot Program for Korean nationals who are traveling in tour groups to the United States. I am joined in this effort by Senators MURKOWSKI. AKAKA. and STEVENS. According to the 1995 National Trade Estimate Report entitled "Foreign Trade Barriers." in 1994. the United States trade deficit with the Republic of Korea was S1.6 billion. or $718 million greater than in 1993. United States merchandise exports to the Republic of Korea were $18 billion in 1994. up $3.3 billion from 1993. United States imports from the Republic of Korea totaled $19.7 billion in 1994. 14.8 percent more than. in 1993.
