Mr. Speaker. today I rise to pay tribute to an outstanding individual. Rev. Jose da Silva Ferreira on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood. Father Ferreira was ordained on February 25. 1956. in the Vila Real Cathedral and began his religious life as an assistant pastor. His leadership qualities became apparent when he was appointed pastor Vilela do Timega. Chaves 1 year later. After 16 years as pastor. he emigrated to the United States. During his tenure as administrator of St. Anthonys Church in Cambridge. MA. Father Ferreira played a critical role In the planning and construction of a new rectory and parish center.
