In addition. millions of Americans depend on a variety of Government services that they have already paid for. Americans have needs that are not being met because the Republicans in the House refuse to agree on a compromise balanced budget Today. the House will pass a resolution to provide funding for selected Government functions. including the Meals on Wheels Program. visitor services in the National Parks. passport and visa services. railroad retirement payments and unemployment insurance. While this is a small step in the right direction for our Nation. I am gravely concerned because this targeted approach does not cover other critical needs such as payments to Medicare contractors.
