I do not want to let the gentlewoman from Connecticut get away. because she has raised so many provocative issues here that allow us to play off of those in some way. The gentlewoman mentioned the misunderstanding about what Medicaid covers here in Washington and around the country. Well. it is really quite deliberate. I am convinced that it is quite a deliberate effort to convince people that it is really those unworthy welfare cheats and only those illegal immigrants who are part of the Medicaid Program. Because if you can somehow demonize the process. it is derogatory. it is an abstraction and a derogatory extraction. It is even inflammatory.
