Session #104 · 1995–97

Speech #1040165858

We must learn the lessons of history and speak firmly and act decisively to create a lasting peace. I was part of the first bipartisan delegation to visit Bosnia. and have seen first hand the devastation there. I was told by the citizens of Sarajevo about the 3.2 million refugees. the over 200.000 people that have been murdered. and the over 6.000 elderly who have been left homeless. I am confident that our military will be able to meet the challenges that will be faced In Bosnia. I am confident because when I personally met with those troops who were in Germany and headed to Bosnia. they said that they were ready.
