This amendment is a gross misuse of the political process to thwart the will of the American people who overwhelmingly support family planning in this country and around the world. Once again. the new majority is attempting to put the radical rights agenda ahead of good government and global responsibility. It is clear that their actions show little concern for womens health. pre and postnatal care. health and nutrition for children. families. and stabilizing global population. and the problems that flow from it. including the massive increases recently in refugees. The Callahan measure would make it illegal to appropriate funds for international family planning programs unless they are authorized. We need to vote to save international family planning programs.
