It is the United States that gave birth to and nurtured NATO. and it worked. as the billions of dollars and the thousands of troops we committed to NATO were worth It. It is now our responsibility to continue to be a fully participating member of NATO. It is surely beneath this great Nation to back out of our international commitments when it requires more than words and dollars and the safe positioning of troops in a peaceful country. The fourth reason is that there are over 2 million refugees scattered throughout Europe. They are a constant and serious threat to the longterm stability of our allies. That is a threat to our national security interest.
