Session #103 · 1993–95

Speech #1030072118

I think a lot of important things have been said. and certainly all of us have done more valuable thinking than we have done in a long time about the CIA and Intelligence generally. I was shocked an hour or so ago to find that the CIA is about or interested in getting into new areas that really do not have very much to do with what I consider the security of the United States. Somebody had a Washington Post article there. stating the CIA is considering getting into global issues. the environment. immigration. refugees. epidemics. world food supplies. I know that in this bill there is a provision to help high schools train science students. And industrial espionage.
