Session #103 · 1993–95

Speech #1030061961

We cannot ignore the presence of a country of more than a billion people that has total trade with the world of $165 billion. It is unrealistic to think that an isolated China is possible in todays world. Along with the United States. every major developed nation is now intimately involved in this country. both diplomatically and economically. We are even culturally intertwined given the large Chinese emigrant population that spans the globe. China is a member of the Security Council of the United Nations. We can only succeed in isolating ourselves through legislation such as House Joint Resolution 208.
