Virtually all of the proponents of this amendment except the new Members of Congress. were the ones who voted for the $76 million cut. We do our best around here to try to allocate these funds carefully. We got complaints if we (1o not appropriate enough. and then complaints because we appropriated too much. The Border Patrol is a high priority with the committee. We have already restored onehalf of the proposed deficit reduction cuts the President assigned to this agency. The motion to recommit has been explained to my colleagues. I do not know for sure what will be in that motion. but. if it is at all reasonable.
