Session #103 · 1993–95

Speech #1030054405

So we absorb all of the costs of incarceration. I believe that decision should be up to the judge and the Attorney General. not the convicted felon. The American taxpayers should not have to pay the cost of incarcerating illegal immigrants convicted of felonies. I believe that Congress must ask the Department of State to negotiate the necessary international agreements. The upcoming NAFTA proposal offers a perfect place for such an arrangement. Five: Overhaul the overwhelmed asylum process in the United States. Today. there is a backlog of 126.000 political asylum cases pending review. These people are not held. They are arrested and they disappear.
