Session #103 · 1993–95

Speech #1030054297

Mr. Speaker. I rise with a great sense of sadness and loss. Sadness because nearly 50 years after the world vowed "never again" we are witnessing genocide in Bosnia. Loss for the Bosnian men. women and children who have suffered so much. We have all seen and heard the Images of horrible carnagethe starvation in concentration camps. desperate refugees packed onto U.N. trucks. innocent civilians killed by Serbian artillery and snipers and the systematic rape of women and girls. Let there be no doubt that what is happening to the Moslems in Bosnia is genocide. Ethnic cleansing is genocide. How we respond to crises such as these is a reflection of our character and our very humanity.
