Session #103 · 1993–95

Speech #1030044328

Mr. Chairman. I thank the gentleman for yielding time to me. Mr. Chairman. I rise today in strong support of H.R. 5. the Cesar Chavez Workplace Fairness Act. This legislation has been appropriately dedicated to the heroic leader and defender of our Nations migrant workforce. America lost a great labor leader and a true patriot with the death of Cesar Chavez. Mr. Chairman. with the passage of the Railway Labor Act in 1928 and the National Labor Relations Act in 1935. the Government sanctioned the right of workers to bargain collectively. The acts gave both management and labor equal leverage in the process.
