Islamic fundamentalists from throughout the Arab region converged in Pakistan in preparation to joining the battle. After the war. many ol these Islamic fundamentalists remained in Pakistan and some may have become independently involved In terrorist activity. To show her good faith. however. the Pakistan Government since April has been rounding up and deporting these Arab fundamentalists en masse. Given that Pakistan has never advocated support for antiAmerican propaganda nor antiWestern rhetoric. and given that Pakistan has always been a staunch ally of the United States In multilateral peacekeeping operations. including Desert Storm and Somalia. I believe that our friends in Islamabad should be given the benefit of the doubt.
