Thirtyone States already offer applicants for a State drivers license the opportunity to register to vote. yet this legislation goes far beyond that innocent sounding concept. This legislation mandates that all 50 States will provide mandatory voter registration at every welfare and public assistance office in the country. Including offices that provide food stamps. Medicaid. WIC. AFDC. and all other forms of public assistance. and in fact. in those offices a welfare applicant must actively decline to accept the voter registration form. Good luck if he is an illegal alien. He will never decline such an invitation and draw attention to his illegal status. In addition. the States have to provide computerization to accommodate this process.
