Classified ads offering jobs and products might as well not exist as far as he or she is concerned. Filling out a job application or writing an effective r6sum6 is impossible. This Congress has stood firm against Englishlanguage illiteracy among Americans who understand only English. Why are we less concerned about Englishlanguage illiteracy among Americans who understand no English? This is misguided multiculturalism. It sacrifices the futures of generations of immigrants to the politically correct view that learning English is not Important. Bilingual education is not something Congress has done in response to a demand from parents. In fact. all too often the Government requires parents to put their children into bilingual programs despite the parents strenuous objections.
