In the memory of those who have perished since 1988. as well as those killed during World War I. we must do everything we can to bring this conflict to an end. so that the process of normalization among the peoples of TransCaucasia can begin. It is sadly fitting that the commemoration of the Armenian genocide should coincide with the opening of the Holocaust Museum in Washington. For the basic lesson of the horrifying experiences of these two peoples in this century is: "Never again." This is a lesson we must all take to heart as the war in the former Yugoslavia continues. and Bosnias Moslem civilian population is bombed. shelled. massacred. and deported. The fate of peoples belonging to these three different religions in this centuryArmenian Christians. European Jews. and Bosnian Moslemsdemonstrates the oneness of the human community and the universality of the lesson of their suffering.
