As we all know. the Zoe Baird case highlighted the fact that there is a perceived shortage of qualified child care workers in this Nation. This model program at the Brooklyn Downstate Medical Center located in my l1th Congressional District trains child care workers for jobs in hospitals. day care centers and. yes. if there were more funds for training. many could provide quality child care services for working mothers. Without exploiting undocumented workers. the child care needs of working women can be met while at the same time we provide decent Jobs for women who want to get off welfare and go to work.
