In the meantime. we in Congress have an obligation to ensure that no policy changes are enacted that will in any way compromise the financial and physical health of the American taxpayer. At this time. our information available on the implications of lifting the ban is not adequate to make that decision. So I want to congratulate the distinguished Senator from Oklahoma for his amendment. one that a number of us have worked on together. I think it is a good amendment. The issue is health care. not gay bashing. It is not antidiscrimination. not antiimmigrant. This is a health care issue. It should be resolved as such.
