Mr. Speaker. as we mark the 500th anniversary of the voyage of Columbus. we are reminded once again that we are a nation of immigrantsmen and women who overcame great uncertainty and hazardous journeys because ihey held the hope in their hearts that there would be opportunities at the end of the road. It is always sad to lose a good friend. but there is continuity in the lives of the next generation and the dreams of generations yet to come. Nicks commitment to hard work. so that he could build a better future for his children. is a commitment that we must never lose as a nation.
