Mr. President. today I am introducing legislation that will correct an unintended. potentially damaging. consequence of U.S. immigration law. which control the activities of alien tuna fishing vessel crewmen who enter ports in this country. Immigration and naturalization law permit parole privileges. under specified procedures. to crewmembers of foreignflagged fishing boats that enter U.S. ports. Alien crewmen on foreignflagged fishing vessels that dock at our ports are able to secure parole privileges to leave these vessels for onshore medical attention. travel to airports for flights home. attend to the boats business. and work alongside their vessels to repair nets and perform other workrelated functions.
