Mr. Speaker. I rise today in support of Senate Joint Resolution 305. a measure designating October 1992 as "PolishAmerican Heritage Month." I wish to thank the gentleman from Pennsylvania for introducing this measure. Since the beginning of this Nations struggle for independence. millions of Poles have emigrated to America and made invaluable contributions to our Nations success. It is fitting that we honor PolishAmericans and recognize them nationwide by establishing PolishAmerican Heritage Month. Many Poles. including Thaddeus Kosciuszoo. who helped the Colonists defeat the British in the Battle of Saratoga. fought for our Nations independence in the Revolutionary War. Since that time. countless PolishAmericans have served with distinction in many capacities. ranging from our industries and Armed Forces to foreign policy positions and the fields of medicine. law. and education to further the democratic way of life in this country.
