Thousands in Bosnia are unaccounted for. The ongoing crisis in Yugoslavia is the most serious conflict in Europe since the end of the Second World War. the innocent victims of this pointless violence deserve our help. This resolution urges the President to continue working with the United Nations to do more for refugees and displaced persons. It also urges an expansion of programs by the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees. In additon. this resolution calls for the provision of emergency food and shelters for refugees. and reaffirms the right of these people to return to their homes. With the coming of winter in former Yugoslavia. additional assistance must be provided to these innocent people who have suffered so much as the result of the reckless policies of Serbias Communist government. My heart and those of all Americans go out to people throughout the world who have lost friends and loved ones during this terrible bloodletting in the former Yugoslavia.
