His concerns along this line are especially poignant now given the recent events in Rostock. Germany which Is located close to Tellow. Th~nens compassion and understanding serves as an example for Germans. Americans and others to be sympathetic to those who are less fortunate and seek refuge. It is of interest. as a side note. that during the final years of World War II. buildings constructed by ThUnen served as shelters for hundreds of refugees fleeing from Eastern European countries. I also wish to recognize and commend RoffPeter Bartz. the present director of the Th~nen Museum at Tellow. As a high school teacher in a nearby town.
