Mr. Speaker. I rise today to draw attention to the case of Vladamir Maizous. a Jewish person who has been denied permission to emigrate from the Commonwealth of Independent States. Vladamir first applied to emigrate in August of 1991 and was granted refugee status by the U.S. Embassy in Moscow. He was denied permission to leave because he supposedly still possesses state secrets and will not be able to leave the country before 1996. However. the Russian Government never specified what these secrets were. Vladamir was employed by the Soviet Aerospace Industry/Central Design Bureau of Machinery Building between 1962 and 1989.
