I am not going to go in and readdress the Legal Services question with you tonight. I would also point out that the bill before us tonight that you are about to vote on contains $1 billion. that is $1 billion with a "B" less in money for crime fighting and crime provisions. the FBI. and so forth. than the President requested. It also undermines. because of the INS funding levels being low. the ability of our Immigration and Naturalization Service to apprehend criminal aliens at the border. For those concerned. it does not do what many of us hoped it would do and address the special prosecutor issue. There are a number of other matters that are deficient with the bill.
