Speech #1020177782

Egypt. On the issue with reference to Jordan and the problems we have had over the years and how we feel about the possibility of the Jordanians having violated the embargo and helped Iraq during the gulf war. we have language regarding compliance with the embargo. On migration refugee assistance. we have appropriated a significant amount of money. and earmarked for certain refugees that we made a commitment to from the Soviet Union resettling. especially in Israel. We have a significant amount of money for the U.S. emergency refugee and migration assistance fund. We have money in here for the U.S.S.R.. which money has been basically taken by moving it out of other programs within the existing budget. We did not take new money. we accommodated what the President of the United States wants. and what many people feel is for humanitarian and technical aid. very important for the Soviet Union. and moved that laterally from one place In this bill to another.
