President. I am honored to rise today to bring to your attention a very special group of constituents. I am speaking about the thousands of Southeast Asian refugees that make the courageous journey to this Nation. fleeing lifethreatening persecution in their native countries. They come to the United States in search of freedomfreedom from persecution. freedom of thought. and freedom of religion. They have experienced first hand. life in a society devoid of the basic freedoms that we. as Americans. sometimes take for granted. Kimberly Chin. a student at California State University at Fresno. has adapted an anthology of refugee experiences into an 80minute theater presentation entitled "Passages." "Passages" is based on a compilation by Katsuyo Howard and is being directed by Dr. Edward EmanuEl. Complete with music. song and slides. "Passages" tells the story of Southeast Asian children and their struggle for freedom.
