Mr. Speaker. Frances DIPletro Squiteri was bom on May 9. 1920 in the tiny town of Mota DAfermo. Sicily. to Filippo and Rosa DiPletro and her two older sisters. Josephine and Maria. At age 17. she left Italy and Immigrated to the United States where she resided in Passaic. NJ. The young Frances having settled In Passaic. began leading a busy life of learning a new language. working as a seamstress and part time at the five and dime. going to night school to become a citizen and of course. becoming a part of her new church community.
