The Armenians are an ancient and a proud people. Tragically. this vibrant culture. its history and all of its accomplishments were brought to the brink of extinction. By 1923. virtually the entire Armenian population of Anatolia and western Armenia had been either killed or deported. The Ottoman Empires attempt to eliminate a culture. a language. and an entire race of people from the face of the Earth set a tragic precedent for Hitlers persecution of European Jews. The horror of the Armenian genocide is made worse by the refusal of the current Government of the Republic of Turkey to acknowledge that this tragedy ever happened.
