To me this issue is much simpler than it is often portrayed in the media. To me this Is an issue of human rights. It is an issue of our obligation as a nation to help those people we have long sought to help. and by that I mean not only the Israelis. but especially those Jews who are emigrating finally from Russia and the other former republics of the Soviet Union. E0 1650 For more than a generation. the expressed policy of this Nation has been to encourage such immigration. to liberate those peoples who have been oppressed for so long. and now they have their chance to leave. We know not how long that chance will endure. It seems to me that we must do all that we can as Americans to make it possible for them to find their new homeland.
