It is rare that I rise to pay tribute to a single Individual. but for this unique lady I am proud to dose. Julia Asher was bom In 1883 and left her native Turkey for the United States In 1913. With three young children and a baby in her arms. she traveled through Greece and then across the ocean to loin her husband. Joseph. who had emigrated 1 year earlier to find work as a tinsmith. Ms. Ashers beautiful children. grandchildren. greatgrandchildren. and greatgreat grandchildren are evidence of her wonderful achievements In this SephardicAmerIcan immigrant experience. To celebrate this very special day. the friends and family of Ms. Asher will gather to honor and rejoice with them on this magnificent occasion.
